2026 Lords Park Preview
October 1, 2026
- NEW VENUE
- This weekend we are at LORDS PARK at 325 Hiawatha Dr.
Elgin, IL 60120 - DO NOT GO TO HERITAGE PARK IN WHEELING!!!
- This weekend we are at LORDS PARK at 325 Hiawatha Dr.
- Cohosted by the Sasquatch Squadron powered by Main Street Bicycles and the Northbrook Garner Bicycle Club.
- Online reg is open until Friday night on BikeReg.
- Preliminary staging will be posted here Saturday.
- Numbers are always on your left SIDE (not your back).
- A friendly reminder, DO NOT EVER overtake a rider who is still finishing their race. We thankfully have not had any complaints yet this year about pre-riders getting too close to racers still finishing. Please give everyone the respect you would expect while you are racing. Thanks!
About Lords Park
- The road through the park is NOT a continuous loop. There’s parking all along the loop but the most parking is on the Southern section that goes past the zoo. The parking lot is by the aquatic center.
- The park is excellent for families. There’s a zoo with Bison and Elk! There are TWO playgrounds, two ponds, and a creek with a path. Go explore, but don’t miss the start of your race(s)!
- There’s ONE indoor permanent restroom building and it should be open. We’ll have port-o-lets as well.
- There’s NO onsite water. BYO pressure washer if you need one
Set up
- DO NOT park in the grass. Park in designated parking spaces.
- Drop off equipment on the North side. There’s a large turn around that the South side does not have. Both the South and North side allow you to back up into a parking space and unload your gear right where you can set up. Pick up your number(s) while you’re at the turn around.
- Set up your team tents on Sunday. We’re not permitted to have tents left overnight and it’s not advised.
Food
- Unfortunately there is NO food truck this year. Sorry, but the park did not allow this.
- There are plenty of restaurants around the corner on Summit Ave. (Rt. 58). After your races, please check out downtown Elgin for food. Elgin Public House, Kubo Sushi, and Shawarma Stop are some favorites.
Course Details
- Staging is in the Northeast corner of the large field.
- The course runs Clockwise.
- No A/B line this year. Just a straight up cyclocross course as we figure out the park and what works best. We wish there was a sand volleyball court but, sadly, there’s no sand.
- The two-way equipment pit is between the two sections of the parking loop. It’s right around the 50/50 mark based on our GoogleMaps layout. We’ll see how much that changes after setup. Racers will pass the pit be shortly after the start.
- After the last 2 days of rain this weekend’s weather looks great. Lords Park drains well and the race directors have kept the course out of the lowest areas that have the most potential to retain water.
Two weeks of correct pit directions in a row?!?!
This is gonna be a banger. Super excited to race at this venue. Layout looks fabulous.
Fellow vegans, Kubo has some good vegan options. Elgin Public House doesn’t have a ton of vegan by default options, but you can make it work.
Thanks, Mikos. The blackbean burger at EPH has always been pretty good, IMO. We’re currently on a Shawarma Stop kick and they make a mean falafel. Closer to the venue we have several fast food options, but there’s also Del Toro taco and Mariscos. Both are good.
Oh also, this venue is only a couple miles from the Elgin Metra station if you’re in the city or live on/near the MDW line.
will there be a designated parking area for officials?
David, yes. North side by the reg table.
