Smart Cycling Road to Cyclocross Nationals Women’s Project

Rules and Guidelines

 

The purpose of the project is to financially support a female athlete’s efforts to compete at Cyclo-Cross Nationals. The Smart Cycling Road to Nationals Women’s Project will be awarded to the top Category III or IV female rider within the Chicago Cyclocross Cup.  The total award of the program is $500.  A maximum of $250.00 (per rider) will be donated to offset the winning athlete’s expenses in traveling to and competing in the USCF Cyclocross National Championships set to for December 12 to 16, 2007.

 

Points will be awarded to each female athlete based on their placing in each Chicago Cyclocross Cup race. The athlete with the greatest number of points at the end of the series will be declared the winner. In the case of a tie, the rider with the most 2nd place finishes will be the winner. If the athletes are still tied at the end of the series, the rider with the highest placing in the last race will be the winner.

 

Rules/Guidelines:

  1. Open to female Illinois riders who are category III and IV who hold an annual USA Cycling racing license.
  2. “0” points are awarded to “one day license holders”
  3. Points are awarded based on the already established Chicago Cyclocross Cup series that awards riders who finish in the top 30 places
  4. All points are earned racing the Chicago Cyclocross Cup Series, racing other series earn “0” points.
  5. Accumulated points are not transferable to other riders.
  6. “0” points are awarded to teams
  7. If a category 4 rider upgrades to a category 3, the rider is allowed to carry 50% of the accumulated points at the time of the upgrade. Other upgrades earn "0" points.
  8. Riders will earn "0" points for participation in any men's event
  9. To earn the points a category 1/2/3 and 4 woman must complete the race
  10. The “Smart Cycling Road to Cyclocross Nationals Women’s Program” award will provide category III and IV female racer a monetary incentive provided they meet the following criteria:
    1. The female rider must have earned the maximum points as a Cat III or Cat IV in the Chicago Cyclocross Cup established races.
    2. The last day to earn points is at the Illinois State Cyclocross Championships
    3. The female rider must register for the national event via KC Cross National ’07 on-line registration process via http://www.kccrossnationals.com/.  Registration opens at 12:01 a.m. CST on 9/15/07.
    4. The female rider must start the USCF Cyclocross National Championships
    5. All travel arrangements are made up front and a refund in the amount of $250 (per rider) will be given once all original receipts are submitted.
    6. Original receipts and expense report must be post marked by Monday, December 17, 2007 (no faxes/e-mails/PDFs documents will be accepted).
